Concrete pools are constructed with shotcrete. Also known as gunite. After the shotcrete sets and hardens, a cementitious layer is applied to the pool's shell.

Some pools might need a chemical treatment or a chemical wash to clean and prep the surface. Use a sandblaster or chisel the underlying concrete to ensure the new material holds well. Focus on a tiny area of the pool at a time. This process can take up to three days, depending on the size of your pool.
